January 16, Addison, TX – A survey conducted by HumCap found that companies most frequently use networking with friends, colleagues, and professional associations as a way of finding the right candidates for the job.

Companies were asked to rate their frequency of use and quality of candidates on a scale of 1-5 (5 being completely agree). When asked how often professional networking was used to find candidates, companies rated it at a 4.1 in comparison to general job listing boards at a 3.2. 

 Although general job listing boards were among the most frequently used, companies rated the quality of the candidates a 2.9 compared to the candidates found from networking at a 3.9 (the highest rating overall). The survey also showed that companies found more qualified candidates through the use of staffing partners (3.4) and contingency/retained fee providers (3.4).

Looking for a job through networking is just as important as what industry you look in. “Texas overall is in better shape than the rest of the country and the industries that are frequently asking for our help with hiring are Energy, Healthcare, and Software as a Service,” says McIntosh.

Networking groups like GeekMeet, Metroplex Technology Business Council, BioDFW, and local chambers are groups that will help you get out there and connect with the right people.
