EEOC RELEASES FACT SHEET ON TESTING, HIRING PROCEDURES The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has placed on its Web site an extensive new fact sheet on how federal anti-discrimination laws apply to employer tests as well as other selection procedures used in hiring and promoting employees, the commission announced Dec. 3. The fact sheet describes the tests and selection procedures being used by employers, outlines employers' "best practices" in testing, and cites recent EEOC enforcement actions involving tests and selection procedures, EEOC said. Discriminatory employment tests and procedures are prohibited by Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, and the Americans with Disabilities Act, all of which are enforced by EEOC. |
