Community HumCap strongly believes in giving back to the community. We invest our time and money for causes close to our hearts including The Entrepreneurs Foundation of North Texas (EFNT), Boy Scouts of America and YMCA among many others. We encourage our employees to seek out opportunities where our company can provide our time and personal resources to worth-while causes.
We have been involved in various charity organizations on a company level as well as an individual level. Tad McIntosh, CEO, serves on the Board of Advisors for EFNT and for the last 5 years HumCap has spent the day with other EFNT members to give back to the community for Freedom Day, a service day to honor those whose lives were changed by September 11th. HumCap has organized the thrift store at the Brady Center, painted at the Science Place and cleaned up a camp in North Texas. |
We have also participated in various fundraising programs including donations to the Buckner Children’s Home, the No Child Left Behind initiative benefiting St. Anthony’s School in Dallas, and organizing a Texas Tough team to help support Children’s Medical Center of Dallas. HumCap employee, Izzy Saldivar fondly remembers his service at the Dallas Life Foundation during Thanksgiving where HumCap employees served food to the homeless. “It was amazing how a simple nice gesture went such a long way for the families that came in. It felt so good to see the little kids laughing and smiling,” says HumCap employee Izzy Saldivar. McIntosh regularly speaks at the NFTE Entrepreneurship days where local executives speak to students at inner-city schools. “The greatest resource we have is our people,” said McIntosh, “Big companies with foundations tend to give more money than time. We have the time and the ability to generate interest with our customers and community.”
Our commitment to community involvement also carries into the personal lives of our employees. A program called The Real Easter Bunny keeps one employee very busy around Easter time when she fills and then delivers baskets filled with goodies to each child staying at Children’s Hospital in Dallas. Another initiative close to the hearts of our employees is Christ’s Foundry, a mission of the United Methodist Church that set out to plant a new church in a Hispanic neighborhood in Dallas. It began in the living room of the pastor and due to continued support from the community has become Walnut Hill United Methodist Church. At the VA Medical Center, another employee helps with Project Phoenix, a program designed to help families and returning veterans face post traumatic stress syndrome. A mission trip to West Virginia had an employee rolling up his sleeves to rebuild homes with a team of other humanitarians. While back in Dallas, he is a part of the West Dallas Mission support team. Hard work and determination of an employee helped bring in over $100,000 for the Challenged Athletes Foundation.
Other HumCap personnel spend their time with Boy Scouts of America, Girl Scouts Tejas Riders, YMCA, Young Life High School Ministries, Habitat for Humanity, North Texas Nebraskans, the CFB Soccer Association, and coaching the City of Richardson swim team. |
